nature & landscape
São Jacinto Nature Reserve, Aveiro, late 1990s. A small boat rests quietly on still water, tied yet appearing to float freely in the light. The horizon fades into the distance, merging sky and river into one. A moment of calm, where simplicity and silence speak louder than detail.
The sun sinks behind the hills, scattering rays through the clouds like an explosion of light and shadow. It’s a simple moment — day becoming night — yet it feels monumental. The contrast is strong, almost cinematic.
Reserva de São Jacinto, Aveiro, late 1990s. The beach stretches in quiet harmony between sand and sky. The fine texture of the dunes contrasts with the soft horizon of the sea, while the layered clouds add depth to the scene. A simple composition that captures the vast calm of this place.
Light breaks through the heavy clouds in scattered beams, touching the hills below with a quiet, almost divine presence. The contrast between the dark sky and the illuminated landscape gives the scene a sense of depth and drama. Nature caught between storm and calm..
Reserva de São Jacinto, Aveiro, late 1990s. A bird attempts to take flight, its wings breaking the surface of the water and leaving a delicate trail behind.
The texture and grain give this image a timeless depth. The fine grass in the foreground stands sharply against the soft, blurred hills behind it, creating a quiet tension between detail and distance. The film grain adds warmth and presence, turning a simple landscape into something almost tactile.
Just another sunset in my village… yet there’s always something magical about the colors. The way the light fades through the clouds, turning blue into gold, feels different every time. Familiar, but never ordinary.
Just another sunset in my village… different light, same calm. The sky seems endless, the clouds slowly dissolving into gold and shadow. It’s the kind of view that makes time pause, even if just for a moment.
This was my first experiment with high-contrast film (Kodalith). The result was dramatic — the tree reduced to a pure silhouette, the sun exploding above it like a spotlight in an empty stage. Every detail fades into black or white, nothing in between, giving the scene a surreal, almost mystical intensity.
